01Your account
- You must be 18 or older to hold an account.
- One person, one account. Running more than one account, or answering a study more than once, is fraud: we may close the accounts and forfeit their balances.
- The details you give must be true. Studies are matched to people by them.
- Keep your sign-in to yourself, and tell us at once if you think someone else has it.
02If you answer studies
- Before you start, a study shows what it is for and its reward, if it has one. A reward can be raised while a study runs, never lowered.
- You are rewarded in SURDA, added to your Surdatics wallet once the research team approves your answer. One reward per study per person.
- Where a study says so before you start, its reward is airtime or data instead, sent to the Nigerian phone number you confirmed, once the research team approves your answer. If it cannot be sent at once, it waits in a queue and is sent as soon as it can be.
- Inviting a friend can earn you airtime, sent to your confirmed Nigerian phone number, once the friend you invited has passed Surdatics Verify and had a first answer approved in a study with a reward. Each friend counts once, and monthly limits apply.
- A reward needs Surdatics Verify (a one-time face check), a complete profile and a confirmed email address. If you answer before you have them, your answer can be held for you to claim within the time shown.
- A research team may reject an answer, with a reason: for example the same answer to every question, contradictory answers, or answers that do not address the question. You can dispute a rejection, and validators who are not the research team decide.
- A gift, voucher or airtime offered for feedback comes from the business that offers it, which is responsible for it.
Your answers. Your answers belong to the research team that ran the study. It sees them under your wallet address, never with your name, email address or phone number.
Resale. A research team may offer an anonymised copy of a study's answers on the Surdatics Data Marketplace. Yours are included only if you said yes when you agreed to that study, or, for answers given before studies asked separately, under the terms then in force. You can stop future sales at any time in your settings; sales already made cannot be undone. While your answers are included and you have a Surdatics account, you earn an equal share of the royalty on each sale, in SURDA. A share smaller than 0.01 SURDA is not credited, and we set the royalty and may change it.
03Rewards and your wallet
- A reward from a study funded with real money comes as paid SURDA, which can be cashed out once cash-out opens where you live.
- A reward from a study funded with free SURDA, a royalty, and SURDA from before April 2026 are free SURDA. Free SURDA cannot be cashed out or used to fund studies. SURDA from before April 2026 can be returned only through a buy-back, when one is open, on its own terms.
- Cash-out is not open yet. It is opening country by country; until it opens where you live, your paid SURDA stays in your wallet.
- When cash-out opens, the minimum, any fee and what you will receive are shown before you confirm. We offer a method only when it can actually send the money.
- Airtime and data rewards are not SURDA: they go to your phone, never to your wallet.
- A reward obtained by fraud, or credited by mistake, can be reversed.
04Answering on WhatsApp or Telegram
- You can answer some studies inside WhatsApp or Telegram. These terms apply there as on the website.
- On WhatsApp you can answer an open question with a voice note. Surdatics AI writes out what you said, and translates it into English if you spoke another language; that text is your answer. The recording is kept for 12 months, then deleted.
- To link your WhatsApp number or Telegram account to your Surdatics account, use the one-time code or link in your settings. One number per account. You can unlink at any time.
- Messages about new studies and rewards come only if you ask for them. Reply STOP on WhatsApp, send /stop on Telegram, use the link in any text message, or switch them off in your settings.
- WhatsApp and Telegram are run by other companies, and their own terms apply to your use of them.
05The daily game
- Anyone aged 18 or over can play the daily guessing round, including as a guest without an account. Answering the day’s questions needs an account.
- One play per person per day, and a guess, once sent, is final. Playing again from other browsers or accounts breaks these terms.
- Points, levels, streaks, badges and region rankings have no money value. They cannot be exchanged for SURDA, airtime or anything else.
- Only answers from verified people with a complete profile count in the results, and in a country’s edition only those who live in that country. Other answers are kept, but not counted.
- Results are published only as totals, and only once enough verified people have answered. The host, Surdatics AI, writes its lines automatically around the results the platform counts.
- We may pause the game, an edition or a question, or change the game’s rules, at any time.
06If you run studies, feedback forms or ballots
- You fund a study’s rewards before it goes live. The reward for each person, our commission and the amount set aside for dispute reviews are shown before you pay.
- Unspent rewards and unused dispute-review money go back to your organisation when the study is completed, stopped, expired or deleted.
- You may reject an answer, with a reason. Rejecting answers that met the brief, to avoid rewarding them, breaches these terms.
- While a study runs you can add people and raise its reward, but never lower it.
- WhatsApp voice-note recordings are deleted 12 months after they arrive; their text stays with the answers. A video recording given before 23 October 2026, by someone who has not accepted these terms, is deleted 12 months after it arrived, as the Privacy Policy they accepted said. Download what you need before then.
- Gifts, vouchers and airtime you offer on a feedback form are yours to honour.
- You pay by card or bank transfer in naira, or in a stablecoin to your organisation’s deposit address. Bank, card and blockchain fees are not ours.
Your obligations to the people who answer. You own the data your study collects, and you are its controller: you decide what it is for. You must have a lawful purpose, ask only for the personal data that purpose needs, say truthfully what the study is for, and not ask people to identify themselves in free text to get round the protections here. We process the answers on your behalf and on your instructions, keep them secure, and help you answer people's requests about their data. A health study follows the stricter rules shown when you switch health mode on. On a ballot the register is yours. You never see how anyone voted, and no page, download or report shows it.
When we process answers for you. These terms are our data-processing agreement with you:
- We process the answers only to run your studies and the services you use, on your instructions: these terms and the settings you choose.
- Everyone who handles them for us is bound to keep them confidential: our staff, and validators, who see a disputed answer only to decide it.
- You authorise the sub-processors in our Privacy Policy’s list of providers that handle answers: hosting in Nigeria, delivering and protecting the website, the AI service providers that write out and translate answers, and, for answers given on WhatsApp, Meta Platforms. Some are outside Nigeria, under data-processing terms with standard contractual clauses where they offer them. We tell you before a new one handles your answers, and you may object.
- We keep the answers secure, tell you without undue delay of a breach that affects them, and help you answer people’s requests and meet your own duties under data protection law.
- When you delete a study, we delete its answers, so download what you need first. Copies you downloaded are yours to look after.
- We give you what you need to show that we keep these terms.
07Buying and selling datasets
The Surdatics Data Marketplace carries two kinds of data, labelled distinctly:
- Collected on Surdatics: gathered here, with consent, from the people who answered the study, with every answer hashed and anchored on the blockchain (only the SHA-256 hash goes there, never the answers or anyone's details).
- Brought by the seller: collected elsewhere and listed here. The seller warrants its lawful origin; we did not witness its collection.
Every dataset is checked automatically before it is listed. We check it for direct identifiers (names, email addresses, phone numbers, identity and account numbers), and refuse a dataset where we find them. A dataset said to be collected on Surdatics is checked against the real answers, and small datasets are flagged, because a few detailed rows can identify people. Passing these checks is not our warranty that a seller's dataset is lawful.
If you sell: you warrant that you hold the rights to the data, that it was collected lawfully and with consent, that it is not scraped, and that it contains no direct identifiers. You indemnify us against claims arising from a breach of that warranty. Our commission is shown before you list. For data collected on Surdatics, a share of your proceeds goes to the people with a Surdatics account whose answers are in the dataset, as a royalty.
If you buy: you license access under the licence that comes with the dataset; you do not own it. You may not try to identify anyone in it, or resell it as your own collection. Access ends at once if you do.
08What you may not do
- Use more than one account, answer a study more than once, or play the daily game more than once a day.
- Answer without reading: the same answer to everything, random answers, or answers written by a bot or an AI tool.
- Upload scraped data, or data you do not hold the rights to.
- Try to identify anyone in a dataset or a result.
- As a validator, copy, keep or use a disputed answer for anything but deciding its dispute.
- Collect data for a purpose you hid from the people answering.
- Probe, scan or attack the platform, unless we have agreed it with you in writing.
- Resell access to Surdatics, or use the API to build a competing index of the people who answer.
09Suspension and closing your account
You can ask us to close your account at any time by writing to info@surdatics.com from the email address on it. SURDA left in a closed account cannot be cashed out afterwards.
We may suspend or close an account for fraud, for a breach of these terms, or where the law requires it. We tell you why, unless the law forbids it, and you can dispute it.
10Our responsibility to you
We provide Surdatics as it is. We do not promise that a study will reach a particular number of people, that a dataset will suit your purpose, or that the service will never be interrupted.
Nothing here limits liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit, and nothing takes away rights the law gives you as a consumer. Subject to that, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of what we charged you in the twelve months before the claim and the rewards due to you.
11Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, this does not deprive you of the protection of your own country's mandatory consumer law.
12Changes to these terms
We post every change here with a new date, and keep each earlier version. Before a change that materially affects you applies to you, we tell you by email and in the product, and ask you to accept it; until you do, the version you accepted before still applies to you.
